Boundary-challenging Beethoven

Shuann Chai and Shunske Sato are currently recording Ludwig van Beethoven's 10 Sonatas for Violin and Piano. Because, as far as they can tell, there isn't a Beethoven sonata set that sounds like theirs.

His music is as full of contradictions as he was: improvisatory, constructed, whimsical, earthy, intense and confronting. This is what we wanted our Beethoven sonatas to become.
